Flat Surface and Rustic Wall on Old Tiles

Skalflex has developed a new do-it-yourself product that is perfect for upgrading old kitchens and bathrooms.

Kitchens and bathrooms are often the two rooms in a house where tiled walls quickly start to look outdated. And, at the same time, upgrading these rooms is very costly and work-intensive. Or rather, so it used to be.

Skalflex A/S, located in Viborg, has developed a new do-it-yourself product perfect for upgrading tiled walls in kitchens and bathrooms. This new product is called Skalcem Multi-Purpose Plaster and is an all-round plaster that will adhere basically to any type of surface. It is thus excellent for surfacing old and outdated tiles.
The result is a consistent wall space with an attractive flat and rustic surface. While beautiful in itself, it can be painted any colour you desire, so there is no need to remove the old tiles.

Skalcem Multi-Purpose Plaster has all the same positive qualities as conventional cement-based plasters. It is washable, vapour permeable and weatherproof. It also offers elasticity and flexibility, allowing it to adhere to basically any type of surface.

It has so many uses that it practically combines a number of specialized products in one product - hence the name Multi-Purpose Plaster. As such, it can be used to plaster interior brick walls that were perhaps painted some other colour by the homeowner, who later regretted it.

It can be used as repair mortar on almost any type of surface as well as for pointing raked joints and puttying doors and windows.

Another important quality in this new plaster is that - contrary to repair mortar - it leaves the surface flat and rustic, so that the repaired area has almost the same surface texture as the surrounding masonry. Repairs become almost invisible when the facade is subsequently painted.

Skalcem Multi-Purpose Plaster comes in buckets of 5 kg and 15 kg and is available throughout the country from building supply stores and timber merchants.
