Skaltherm Base Plaster is a versatile moisture-curing cement base plaster. It is used for exterior insulation on facade slabs/polystyrene plates, as base plaster in Mesh Plaster Renovation, as base plaster in ”Brick pattern” and as a plaster repair product for a number of repair tasks.
Skaltherm Base Plaster has diffusion capacity and is noted for its very high impact and compression strengths as well as very high adhesive properties.
SKALTHERM INSULATION SYSTEM
Apply Skaltherm Base Plaster directly on facade slabs or polystyrene plates. Treat surface with Skalcem S 2000/CF 2000 coloured limewash (see Skaltherm Insulation system).
Apply Skaltherm Base Plaster and press the reinforcement mesh into the wet plaster, then smooth the surface. Apply Skalcem S 2000/CF 2000 coloured limewash and smooth the plaster to finish (see Mesh plaster renovation).
Apply Skaltherm Base Plaster, place mesh on joints and cracks. Apply another layer of Skaltherm in a thickness of approx. 1-2 mm and scrape off any excess plaster on joints with a special-purpose tool. After curing for 1-2 days, limewash with Skalcem S 2000/CF 2000 coloured limewash (see Brick Pattern).
Its great versatility and strength together with its adhesive properties make Skaltherm Base Plaster an outstanding plaster repair product - both when it comes to lime plaster and cement plaster. Remove any loose material and easily repair cracks in brickwork and plaster as well as cracks between brickwork and wood.

Skaltherm Base Plaster can be applied on all solid, intact and healthy surfaces. Skalflex Multi-purpose Primer is excellent for priming slightly wet surfaces.
Stir up Skaltherm Base Plaster using a drilling machine with a stirring whirl – the consistency should be thick.
Apply by ordinary plastering trowel or a toothed putty knife, depending on the desired layer thickness.
In mesh plaster renovation, the reinforcement mesh is plastered into Skaltherm Base Plaster, while still wet.
To ensure proper curing and adhesion, Skaltherm Base Plaster should not be applied at temperatures below +5 °C, as lower temperatures will retard the curing process. The curing period is 20-28 days.
For best finish, a decorative plaster or coarse paint should always be applied on top of Skaltherm Base Plaster as a final coat. This is done as soon as after 3 days.
