Skalcem 1000

Skalcem S1000Properties:

Weatherproof, washable – able to withstand high-pressure cleaning, resistant to mechanical influence. Has diffusion capacity – allows the wall to breathe and can be used on exterior and interior walls. Skalcem 1000 offers outstanding versatility, as a setting coat, rough plastering, brooming, fine limewash of masonry, plaster and concrete, LECA blocks and other mineral substrates with structured surfaces, such as spatterdash finish.

Colours:

White.

Technical data:

  • Gloss: Approx. 2 – flat
  • Mixing: 6-9 litres of water per 25 kg powder
  • Consumption: 1 – 3 kg/m2 (depending on the structure and layer thickness)
  • Drying schedule: Surface dry after approx. 24 hours at min. 15 °C.
  • Water vapour diffusion: Zh 2O = 0 at a layer thickness of 338 mm
  • Curing time: 28 days
  • Safety rules 93: 00-4
  • Working temperature: Min. + 5 °C max. 25 °C

Skalcem 1000Application method:

Pre-wet surface to be coated by spraying with vapourised water. Prime irregularly absorbent substrates according to factory instructions (see Beto-Lime Binder).
Stir up plaster using a drilling machine with a stirring whirl – adjust the consistency to suit the task at hand. Apply by steel float, roller or brush depending on the desired structure.

Due to the risk of visible efflorescence in dark colours, it is strongly advisable not to apply plaster to saturated masonry.

If the surface is still wet to the touch after 1-2 days because of insufficient pre-wetting, the curing process can be induced by moistening the surface with vapourised water.
Apply Skalcem 1000 only when daily air temperatures are above 5 °C. When colours other than white are used, the wall should be protected if there is a chance of rain, as driving rain before the curing process has finished may cause white stains. This is especially important at temperatures below 10 °C because the curing process will be retarded. Avoid working in direct sunlight. To avoid colour differences, use bags with identical production numbers (see label). Once stirred, the finished mixture must be used within 1-2 hours.

Primer:

Skalflex Beto-Lime Binder is an acrylic polymer that increases the bond strength of Skalcem 1000. The primer also allows curing despite limited pre-wetting of the masonry.

In cases of irregularly absorbent masonry, e.g. due to repairs, it is a good idea to use Beto-Lime Binder as a primer. However, painting with Skalcem 1000 must begin before the primer becomes dry.

Concrete masonry units:

To increase the bond strength on new smooth surfaces, such as concrete masonry units, add Beto-Lime Binder diluted with 5 parts water to the mixing water.
