A new way to renovate facades, which provides a greater insurance against peeling and cracking, has been born.
The method is based on well-known products like Skaltherm base plaster, into which Skaltherm fibreglass net is laid. The method has been tested for many years, i.e. on exposed places like chimneys.
The new method has many advantages, e.g. the fact that peeling is prevented because the outer shell is bound together in one piece by netting and Skaltherm base plaster. Even houses with grave cracks can be built up using this method.
Skalcem S 2000 coloured plaster mixed with 2 litres Beto-Lime Binder per 25 kg can be applied as the final treatment.
Skalcem 2000 can be treated afterwards using Skalflex Facade-Silicate paint as soon as 24 hours later, as long as the underlay behind the netting and plaster is dry and hardened. This is, however, not usually necessary, as Skalcem S 2000 has shown to be incredibly colour-fast and keeps that way for many years.
A quick after-treatment can be called for though, if the facade is exposed to rain before hardening set in or if another colour is desired than those available from the Skalcem S 2000 series. It is also an advantage that the surface can be painted so quickly afterwards in that if any scaffolding is needed, it will be there already and can be used again.
The finished surface can be as smooth as plaster, structured like Spanish plaster or look like a trowelled finish, what ever you like. The material consumption for this "make-over" is usually as low as min. 4 kg Skaltherm base plaster and 2 kg Skalcem S 2000 per m2.
