Skaltherm Insulation

Properties

The Skaltherm system has been developed to facilitate insulation of an existing surface without compromising quality. Due to the system's elasticity, it is only necessary to use one kind of base plaster before the final treatment is carried out.

The system, including 5 mm Skaltherm, 2.5 mm Relief-flex and Skaltherm paint applied to Rockwool facade slabs have been thoroughly tested by the Danish Technological Institute. It was compared to an alternative system on the Danish market the results were exceptional:

The armament netting is tested according to DIN 53857/1 specifications and meets EOTA requirements. The whole solution is classed as "Class A material" by the Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology.

The system can be used on all even surfaces like e.g. slate, lime/sandstone and porous concrete.

Possible surface solutions

There are three possibilities for final treatment that can be carried out after Skaltherm base plaster with armament netting is applied:

1. 2.5 mm Relief-flex is applied using a steel board (2 days after Skaltherm base plaster has been applied). After hardening, the surface can be painted using Skaltherm paint.

   0.5 kg Skaltherm paint
2. Skalcem S 2000 mixed with 2 litres Beto-Lime Binder and 4 litres water per25 kg is applied to the wall using a steel board and then rubbed with a damp sponge.
   Consumptionper m²:2 kg Skalcem S 2000
   0.16 litre Beto-Lime Binder
3. A new layer of Skaltherm base plaster is applied on top of the netting and a brick pattern is scraped into it. About a day later, Skalcem S 2000 mixed with 2 litres Beto-Lime Binder and 4 litres water per 25 kg is applied to the wall using a steel board and then rubbed with a damp sponge.
   
   Data sheets for the products mentioned above can be obtained from the factory.

Procedure / check list:

1. Attach if necessary basement profiles that fit the width of the chosen insulation
   slab
2. Attach insulation slabs using Skalflex-dowels.
3. Attach corner profiles at corners and rabbets.
4. Attach strips of netting around the corners of windows and doors
5. Apply Skaltherm base plaster and press armament netting into the wet
   plaster

The final treatment is started 2 days later.
